We were, it appears, all cuckoo for wall-clocks when the Modern Home Show came to the Kelvin Hall in 1951. And just imagine the racket when these all chimed simultaneously!
Even though the war was long over, money was still tight, so it was always a thrill to see all the latest interior design and gadgets for the home. Mind you, Swedish furniture did look a bit odd in a single-end in Partick.
Eventually, the Modern Homes Show morphed into the Ideal Homes Show. Today, the Scotland's Homes exhibition, at the SECC, fulfils the same function.
